Study with me: study together, each in your own flight

Study with me means you do not study alone but at the same time as other people. On Study Airlines that works without a camera or a video. You study in your own flight, and the public departures board shows, anonymously, who else is in the air right now. Free, in your browser, no account.

What is “study with me”?

Most people know the format from videos: someone films themselves studying for an hour or two, with a timer and fixed breaks, and viewers study along. The idea is simple: when you can see that others are sitting at their desks too, it is easier to start and easier to keep going. That feeling does not need a video, only the sense that you are not the only one.

Study with me, as a flight

  • Others are in the air with you. The departures board shows every flight in progress, live: callsign, route, flight phase and time remaining.
  • A fixed frame. You book, board and study until landing. The captain checks in at a quarter, at three quarters and at the start of the descent.
  • Breaks are built in. From 45 minutes there is an onboard service in the middle of the flight, announced two minutes ahead.
  • A quiet hum instead of a playlist. With Sound on, an engine hum rises at takeoff and settles during cruise.
  • Nobody watches you. No camera, no name, no subject on the board.

A return flight doubles any route. Long sessions suit practice exams and big reviews; for everyday studying, 60 to 90 minutes are usually enough. More in How long to study: short hop or long haul?

Studying with friends

You need no account and no room: agree on a time and a route, both book the same flight and board at about the same time. You land almost together and can compare notes afterwards. How study partners help instead of distracting is covered in Flying with a copilot.

Short rounds or a plain timer?

For every length at a glance, including 25-minute rounds, use the study timer.

Frequently asked questions

Can anyone see me while I study?

No. There is no camera and no video. On the departures board your flight shows only a random callsign, the two airport codes, the flight phase and the time remaining. Your name and your subject appear nowhere.

Is there music or background sound?

There is no music. With Sound on you hear a soft engine hum that changes with the flight phases, plus the captain and crew announcements. You can switch each of them off separately.

Can I study with friends?

Yes, without accounts: book the same route and board at about the same time. You will see your flights side by side on the departures board with the same airport codes and land at almost the same moment.

What if nobody else is in the air?

Then yours is the first flight on the board. The statistics below it still show how many flights have landed today.

Is it free?

Yes. Study Airlines is free, needs no account and runs in your browser. There is also a free app for iPhone and iPad.
